As Director of Technology for 547 Energy, Itai leads the development of the company’s long-term vision on clean energy technologies and supports the standardization of world-class energy modeling as well as technical contracting practices.

Itai brings to his role more than 15 years of experience in transformative PV module and system design. Prior to joining 547 Energy, Itai served as Chief Technology Officer at Silfab Solar where he was responsible for leading R&D, product, and intellectual property development for the company. While at Silfab, Itai designed, developed, and launched over a dozen unique PV module products and raised close to $7M in US federal funding to launch long-term R&D projects. Previously, Itai held various project development roles at EDP Renewables North America (“EDPR NA”) where he was instrumental in helping to grow and mature the technical and design aspects of EDPR NA’s solar PV pipeline. Before joining EDPR NA, Itai worked for Cogenra, Solaria, and SunPower in a variety of R&D and product development roles. 

Itai is a seasoned solar cell and module expert and has been an active member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in Technical Committee 82 (Photovoltaics) since 2010. In 2022, Itai received the prestigious IEC 1906 award for his work leading the revision of the PV module retest guidelines. Itai holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley, where he specialized in original semiconductor-based research.
