Ignacio Alvarez Freire leads engineering management spanning the development, financing, procurement and construction of clean energy projects and new investment opportunities at 547 Energy.

Prior to joining 547 Energy, Ignacio was a Project Engineer and Developer for Vattenfall in the Netherlands, providing technical management for onshore wind, solar and battery projects across Europe. While at Vattenfall, Ignacio also pioneered and built a clean energy investment platform, obtaining backing and funding from Vattenfall’s venture capital division Green:field.  

Ignacio started his renewable energy career at Mott MacDonald in the UK as a Technical Consultant. Concurrently, Ignacio founded an e-commerce solar energy start-up specialized in the commercialization and distribution of PV panels.

Ignacio holds an M.S. in Offshore Renewable Energy from the Strathclyde University and a master’s degree in Mining & Energy Engineering from the University of Vigo, the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the Technical University of Ostrava. He has also completed a course on Climate & Renewable Energy Finance provided by the Frankfurt School of Finance.
